Recognizing Ordinarie Heroes for their work engaging Black and Brown youth in the Hunting Park community. WHEREAS, Ordinarie Heroes is a Black-led nonprofit organization that addresses educational and health disparities within under-resourced communities; and WHEREAS, The IE in their name stands for I’m Enough because we believe ‘ordinary’ people can create real change; and WHEREAS, The mission of Ordinarie Heroes is to inspire the next generation, empower the community, and transform the world through the lives of ordinary people; and WHEREAS, In Philadelphia Black and Brown young people face a range of systemic challenges that hinder growth and potential; and WHEREAS, These barriers are compounded by exposure to violence, trauma, and lack of mental health resources can impact emotional well being and success; and WHEREAS, Ordinarie Heroes believes in the power of youth and provides young people with the necessary tools they need to overcome the unique challenges they face; and WHEREAS, Their programs provide safe spaces where young people refine their leadership skills, amplify their voices, and become the change agents they are meant to be; and WHEREAS, Ordinarie Heroes serves over 40 young people per month through hands-on gardening experiences, leadership sessions, and nutrition education; and WHEREAS, Their health and wellness workshops reach over 150 community members annually; and WHEREAS, Ordinarie Heroes believes in the power of collaboration and is partnered with o…
