Honoring and Celebrating Jocelyn Wims, activist, gospel singer, and public servant, on the occasion of her Birthday. WHEREAS, Jocelyn Wims, born on August 17th, 1982, is a Philadelphia native who has devoted much of her life to serving her community and engaging in civic duties; and WHEREAS, As the daughter of the late Esther and Ralph Wims, Wims is the youngest of three siblings, including brother, Corey Wims, and sister, Desire Travers; and WHEREAS, Wims is a graduate of Overbrook High School, who later continued her education at the Community College of Philadelphia, where she received her Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, and Temple University, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations; and WHEREAS, Over the past 14 years, Wims has played an active role in local and national politics, serving as a poll worker each election day and assisting various elected officials, including Councilman Jim Harrity, Council President Kenyatta Johnson, Mayor Cherelle Parker, Governor Josh Shapiro, and President Joe Biden, among others; and WHEREAS, As a proud and passionate congregant of The Sharon Baptist Church, Wims is a member of the mass choir, which has most recently performed at the Wawa Welcome to America festival, the Juneteenth Parade Festival, and The National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses; and WHEREAS, In her daily life, Wims works works full-time as Security Event Staff at Lincoln Financial Field, Wells Fargo, and Citizens Bank Park; n…
