Honoring Teresa Johnson-Duncan for her role in addressing the personal and material needs of pregnant and new moms and their infants. WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson-Duncan is the executive Director of the Center for Leadership, Development and Advocacy; and WHEREAS, She has worked and volunteered with The Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia, The Parent Leadership Academy with the School District of Philadelphia and many others; and WHEREAS, Her leadership and organizing gusto have brought forth projects like the Fresh Bottoms Diaper Bank, The Basic Needs and Menstrual Hygiene Bank and the Special Needs Resources program in Partnership with Thomas Jefferson University; and WHEREAS, In a career that has involved ensuring access to products and support for women who may have no other ready access to the diapers menstrual products and the support networks needed to ensure that women and the children of the future can thrive, Ms. Johnson-Duncan has furthered her attention on the future with her involvement in Philadelphia Science Explorers, a program with Drexel University to ensure that kids get exposure to the Science and Technology jobs and fields of the future now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby, honors the way Teresa Johnson-Duncan has chosen to live life and use her considerable efforts to build better lives for individuals, families and generations to come, in her hometown of Philadelphia and beyond.
