Honoring and congratulating the Champion of the Week, educator Victoria Best, the founder and Executive Director of Victoria Urban Outreach Tutoring Services, a youth education and mentorship program in the city of Philadelphia. WHEREAS, Victoria Urban Outreach Tutoring Services is a community focused nonprofit tutoring and educational organization serving Philadelphia’s students and families; and WHEREAS, Victoria Urban Outreach Tutoring Services works towards promoting and providing a responsive educational environment for all disadvantaged and underprivileged youth and adults in urban areas; and WHEREAS, The organization is designed to meet the needs of students of all ages in Philadelphia, with a special consideration for “education as a fundamental right to everyone regardless of financial barriers”; and WHEREAS, Victoria Urban Outreach Tutoring Services’ collaboration with the local community provides for distribution of free resources for students, including supplies, civic education, and recreational activities; and WHEREAS, Victoria Urban Outreach Tutoring Services’ after school and annual summer programs provides for valuable out-of-school time for students, allowing them to foster relationships with peers and mentors; and WHEREAS, The work of Victoria Best and Victoria Urban Outreach Tutoring Services is setting a solid foundation for educating all generations in Philadelphia; and RESOLVED, That we honor and congratulate the Champion of the Week, educator Victoria …
